Vibration & Sound
One of the first things I noticed was how crisp the sound was. Even when the signal was close & the tone sped up. I could still hear it very clearly. Similarly, the vibration was a really solid force. It wasn’t so hard that it shook my hand but also not so soft that I questioned if I felt it. I really like that it speeds up in vibration and tone pattern as it gets closer to a target. That makes it very easy to know where you should look more closely. You can have the two on together or separately.
LED Flashlight & Indicator
The XPointer Pro also has a built-in LED flashlight to help you see in darker areas. I have not needed to use it but found it was easy enough to turn on. Just like with the vibration and sound you can have the flashlight and indicator lights on at the same time or independently.
Adjustable Sensitivity
If you feel the pinpointer is having a hard time picking up targets, you can change the sensitivity. There are four levels to rotate through. I did not feel the need to change the sensitivity in the field at all. In fact, one time I went out and it kept picking up the digger I brought with me that was 3-4 inches away. My friend kept getting excited for me, then I would move the digger and it would slow down.
Rechargeable Battery
One thing that I really like about this pinpointer is the built-in rechargeable LiPoly battery. There is no additional cost for batteries, though it does require a little more planning to make sure it is charged before a hunt. It only takes a couple hours for it to fully charge, so you won’t be waiting around for too long. On a full charge, it can last upwards of three hours in use time. As long as you remember to turn it off in between plugs, you should be good for at least one whole trip. If for some reason it does fully discharge, you could always hook it up to a battery bank just like a cell phone since it uses a USB type cable to charge.
Waterproof
Last, but definitely not least, the pinpointer is waterproof up to 60 m . Its bright orange color helps with visibility underwater and it comes with accessories to keep it attached to you. It uses Pulse Induction technology so that you can use it in fresh or saltwater. Take a look at the video below to see it in action in the ocean.
